Hi Sabika,

One of the reasons that people like myself really enjoy Scrybe is that it is a really useful tool for implement the methods of GTD which is very popular. There are loads of calendars and todolists out there but for me, Scrybe is king in two key areas:

- Speed and Responsivness: Being flash scrybe is quick like a desktop app, but has the flexibility of being an online app

- Calendar and Todolist integration: Most todolists lack a decent calendar, especially one with the desktop like responsiveness and flexibility of Scrybe

If you look at the competition such as Backpack, it lacks that speed and flexibility, and hence why for my Scrybe is a head above the competition in this area.

BUT

There is one key area in which I think Scrybe lets itself down, and that's in the power of the todolist. It simply doesn't sport the features that many of the top todolists possess, and whilst the aim may be to keep this part of Scrybe simple, it really would benefit from some optional power features to truly harness Scrybe's capability of the first truly integrated calendar and todolist (which doesn't suck). In my opinion, the key enhancements would need to be:

- Multiple label support or tagging, where you can assign multiple tags to a item

- Sub-Projects

- Dependencies: Ability to make tasks dependent on one another

- Clearer labelling of the number of tasks in a list (maybe put the number at the front of the list rather than at the end)

And perhaps most importantly:

More real estate for the todolist window: I like the way in which the collections window scrolls out - can't we have something similar for the todolist to provide more realestate? I have large lists that would really benefit from having more room to organise. Try looking at popular todo lists such as Todoist or Hiveminder for inspiration.

To summarise then: Great product, great integration of todolist and calendar, Fantastic speed and responsiveness, let down by an under-powered todolist. It'd be great if you could review the todolist with the view to making enhancements.

While I haven't received a beta invitation yet, I've been waiting in anticipation of this app. The main feature I'm looking for is the Task and Calendar integration. However, not allowing multiple tags on the tasks is a real killer for me. I've been using Hiveminder for task management and allowing multiple tags to be assigned to any task has made task management much easier.

Remember the Milk is also another great task management tool that allows for multiple tags. Please consider adding this feature.

I just got the invite, and so far i love it...I had been doing 30boxes and RTM, but this definitely rolls it all up nicely. BUT, I agree with ya grahamsccs, there's definitely room for improvement with the tasks. I used to love the Franklin system, and then GTD. My task system has become a meld of both using tagging to show the status, importance, and area/categorization. And integrating with the calendar is a must. Some tasks span days, or I'll need to repeat them weekly, monthly. All that to say, agreed!

A number of these suggestions ring true for me, as well...

1) We need a "Whole screen" view for the Lists engine. People LIVE off of their To-Do lists... they need to be able to work with them more easily.

2) It would be handy to simply drag and drop list items between lists... while viewing multiple lists at once from a full-screen view. Smile

3) I love the integration between calendar and lists... I love the ability to drag and drop a task on a date to add it to the calendar and give the task a date. I would love a similar integration with contacts for arranging meetings and sending reminders to other users.

Great job so far,
douglas

Some power features along with greater real estate for to-do lists is in the pipeline.

Thanks for your feedback.

I don't seem to be able to label to-do items...at all. All that appears is General for a label for a to-do.

You must first create labels.
The "label" of a task is basically equivalent to the name of the "sub-list" that the task is on.

1. In the Lists panel in the lower-right hand corner of the screen, click on the word "Lists" in the blue title bar.

2. You will see your calendar, the word "All" and the word "General".

3. Add a new label using the add field at the top of the panel.

4. You will now be able to select that label, update a task, and it will be assigned to a new list with a new label. All task items will be viewable under the "All" list, and new tasks will still receive the "General" label by default.

I think of the different labels as sub-lists of the the "All" list, since you can't yet assign multiple labels to a single task.

I use the Getting Things Done methodology and I am experimenting with using the ThoughtPad for Someday/Maybe items (things that you might want to do in the future). I'd like to see a way to move items from the ThoughtPad to the Todo list and vice-versa. Another important ThoughtPad feature would be the ability to get a print out of all items across all Labels. Import/Export of Todo and ThoughtPad items would also be nice.

This is my main concern as well.

At the moment, the best way to get a usable task view is papersync.

Variations on a theme here. I agree with these posts about the somewhat too simplified nature of the current Task lists. In particular, the difficulty in figuring out how to even create new Labels really needs to be addressed. I noted one other user posted the question, and it took me a long time to figure out that I had to go create them in place. It's also confusing that the Labels will pick up the color of a matching Calendar Collection, but the Calendar Collections are not listed as available Labels when creating a new Task. So, I have to create a new Label, but they are somehow cross-referenced to the Calendar Collections? Confusing.

I would prefer that Labels be consistent across Tasks, Calendar, and ThoughtPad. Managed in one place, consistently colored, and flexible enough to be edited if necessary from any one of the 3 tools. Also, I don't see a good reason for calling them "Collections" when they're on the Calendar, and "Labels" everywhere else. Keep it consistent based on its function, not the current mini-app.

Great job so far, though, the labelling is minor!

I too found it confusing about how to create new labels, and I would also like to see them used across the calendar, todo, etc. to eliminate confusion. So, if I have a calendar called "work" I can also label todo's as "work." You get the idea.

One of the features I love in RTM is tagging of tasks--it's indispensable for me.

I too have been trying to find the "perfect" GTD implementation tool (for a long time I enjoyed Nozbe, but it had no calendar, as I recall), but I've yet to find a calendar/task system that gets it right. There's too much detail or not enough. And so far Scrybe falls on the "not enough" side, but the potential is there.

Every calendar event is a task, and every task is a potential calendar event. Each can be shown on a calendar or in a list, and ideally both. For this reason, I suggest to Scrybe that anything you put on a calendar can also be in a list.

I've also never seen this function on any comparable system: a COUNTDOWN. Maybe full-on project management with milestones, tasks and a full-fledged GANTT chart is too much detail, but a countdown that lets me see graphically how much time I have left on my deadlines would be great. Or how many hours of Continuing Education I have left in a year. Some people could use them to see how many shopping days are left until Christmas.

I find all the suggestions here exactly what I wanted to ask. I reinforce the request for a larger panel to manage the task lists.

After sampling a number of todo lists on the web (close to 100, i think), here is what id like to see:

1. To dos with priority, dates, times and reminders (email and sms). For priorities, check zirr.us - it has a slider instead of numbers for priorities. Recurrences, chains (a la todoist, but with more than one occurence in a day - so it becomes a matrix). Recurrences shd recognize weekdays.

2. Calendar view of tasks- default by week, organized and listed by day. Choices of week, month and year.

3. Projects, contexts - hopefully unlimited, but hierarichical.

4. Notes on tasks

5. UI - 100% Web 2.0
- Inline editing of all details
- Free text entry of all parameters (like stikkit)
- View of calendar and tasks (like hitask, but being able to view tasks that are put on the daily calendar)
- Drag and drop to sort and on to calendar
- Color coding at any level (todoist or gubb)
- Bulk postponements. So if you have a day off everything can move to the next day

If you can implement these, you will be the best out there. Todoist is the one to beat.
