One thought I had was I like a more condensed overview of my day (don't like scrolling through the day in order to see everything on the time schedule), so I'd keep the scale at 1hour increments, fitting my screen. Then, why not use the same zooming function you use on the monthly screen to zoom into a particular hour to show a smaller timescale? This may help fit everything in the active day onto one screen...
