| I was wondering if the scrybe development team is planning to implement a sort of contacts list or not. I love flash interfaces, as they are extremely fast. Hopefully a contacts list feature would be developed soon, as I believe it would significantly increase the functionality of the software. |

Contacts will be introduced with Sharing in the Third Phase of the beta.

| I'm glad the third phase of the Beta has come out, and it is a really exciting opportunity. However, the contacts list was less useful than I expected. I do have a humble suggestion: Perhaps iScrybe should have a large contacts list project planned so that other than Calendar and ThoughtPad, an additional tab called "Contacts" could be made. There, iScrybe could have a pure contacts list with places to enter email, phone, etc. and export and import contacts lists with CSV file formats. This would definitely sound promising and fight against other contact lists and services like "Zoho Mail" (previously called Zoho Desktop, I'm pretty sure that this was noted as competition by your team, no?) |

Dooga,
I agree with you about having a Contact tab next to Planner and ThoughtPad so that we can have easier access to our contacts and add news ones to be able to share our calendars and tasks. |

I agree!
If I want to pay any money for an organizer solution I want a lot more than phase 3 offers for contacts.. I looked at it currently and won't need to look again.. I think a full blown contacts (Address Book with all the options) should be added next to Calendar | ThoughtPad in the top.. Right now I still need to use Plaxo for this.. I want away from Plaxo - iScrybe will rule! |

| You seem to integrate, somewhat, with Google, but how about http://www.grandcentral.com/contacts ? |

This is a great wish list item, I agree.
Some people are married to Plaxo or LinkedIn or Google contacts or their Apple Address Book application, of course... effortless synching with as many of these services as possible would be a major plus. It kind of looks like iscrybe already synchs (or at least talks to) Plaxo and other services... which is groovy... but it looks like that implementation is still not quite working.
Having "Contacts" right up there with "Planner" and "ThoughtPad" would be really keen. |

| I don't even see Contacts in scrybe anywhere. Where do I find them? Do I have to Share my contacts in order to have access to them? |

1. Click on the gray arrow tab at the left of your calendar, in the middle of the window.
2. A panel will open and your calendar will be grayed-out. This is the "collections" pane, used for creating and sharing multiple calendars.
3. You can create multiple calendars in the upper part of the pane. After doing so, you will be able to select events in your calendar and assign them "Labels" which make them part of one of the collections you have created.
4. While selecting one of your new collections/calendars, you can use the lower panel to share the calendar with people in your contacts. You can click to add contacts, and iScrybe can collect contact information from Plaxo and other digital addressbooks.
I am still a bit fuzzy on how this works with people who do not have iScrybe accounts, but I just shared the Beagley calendar with my wife... I'll be sure and ask her what she gets by way of notification/access.
There are a couple of little hints that iScrybe will have a lot of other contact-integration down the road. For example, tasks have a "Requires" field and a "Assign to" field... which I assume will work with a more evolved contacts engine coming soon.
Incidentally: the contact-synching may have a snag with the Safari Web browser. I've switched over to Firefox on my Mac. Seems to work okay in Firefox on both Mac and Windows XP.

M4n8008:
Once you import contacts in your Scrybe account, they appear as an auto-complete list in the Sharing details.
Hope this helps,

| Sorry, actually it doesn't help. I'm obviously too dumb for scrybe. Maybe I'm just expecting too much. |

Nah... it's just that there isn't much there yet.
The ONLY contact features that exist, as near as I can tell, is that you can open the left-hand side panel, click on a new calendar (not "General", but any other calendar), click "Contacts" and use the widget window to add contacts, and then type the contact's name into the little field at the top of the "X Calendar (Shared)" panel and they will show up and can be added to the shared list for that particular calendar.
That's all there is right now. And honestly, it isn't yet perfectly intuitive. Eventually the team will probably create a snazzy tutorial video for it. |

1. Log on to Scrybe.
2. Click on the grey arrow at the left edge of your Calendar area.
You calendars display in the Collections pane.
3. Select an existing calendar or add a new one.
4. Click Share with your contacts.
5. Click Contacts to import your address book from any service.
Your contacts are now available within Scrybe and with autocomplete. Just type in the first few letters and see all matching contacts in your list.
6. Add a contact and click Update.
Hope this helps.

| This is an interesting "work-around" solution for an address book. However, if Scrybe is to be a useful tool for me and many others who want total transparency in softwear, it will have to incorporate a real contact list/ address book. |

Hi all,
I too think that a decent contact management system is crucial for scrybe to be a complete solution. In addition to what has already been said before, I believe that the following feature should also be implemented : a history of all events per contact (clicking on a contact would list all the different past and/or future events to which the contact is associated). This already exists namely in Agendus, running on Palm, and is extremely useful.
Regards,
Egg |
